Power

Good Morning,
Living on a year round creek is great. We can experiment with different ways of producing power with water.
Last year we built an undershot water wheel with wood and put it in the creek where an old beaver dam is.
The water wheel produced a bit of power, but not what we could use for anything.
It could be that the wooden paddles are too heavy, as it doesn't turn fast enough.
This summer we may try using metal paddles. The paddles would be a lot lighter and perhaps then we could generate enough power to run something.

Still Winter

The clocks have gone ahead and it is still winter here. Minus 14 and it looks like it will get even colder during the first part of the coming week.

Homesteading isn't always the easy way in life. There's the constant building and fixing things up. There's the bringing in of firewood and keeping the home fires burning. Chores to do everyday, twice a day, even when it's extremely cold or you're sick, they have to get done.

Winter will end and planting will begin before we know it.

Happy Trails ,
