Finding Land

Good Morning,

It took Ed and I 5 years to find secluded land that we could afford.

We finally found our 40 acres, with a major creek running throught the middle of it, for a very reasonable price.

The land was raw, with nothing on it.

We first put a log fence around most of the propery.
The first building to be built was the outhouse.

We cut down dead trees to build with and made our own lumber.

We have a sawmill that Ed built, which is really handy, as we can cut any size boards that we need.

Over the last 5 years we have managed to build our cabin, shower house, shop, generator house, 2 other cabins, woodshed, barn, greenhouse and a lagoon.

Our boys gave us a lot of help building up our homestead.

I am especially proud of the barn that my older son, Shyne, and I built together.

We also have a hay meadow that took us years to get into shape and now it produces good quality sugar cane and wild grass hay.

Homesteading is a lot of work, however we love our lifestyle, which makes it all worthwhile.
